Ring workshop · Canggu, Bali
Make your own ring in Bali – and wear it home the same day.
Sketch it, melt it, forge it, polish it. In three hours at our Canggu studio you will make a solid silver ring with your own hands, guided by a Balinese silversmith.

Step by step
How your ring gets made.
Every step is yours. Your instructor demonstrates, then hands you the tools.

- 01
Sketch & size
Choose a design, pick a width and texture, and get your finger measured with a ring gauge.
- 02
Melt
Your silver goes into a clay crucible and melts under the torch.
- 03
Forge & roll
Hammer the ingot into a bar, then pass it through the rolling mill until it is a flat strip or wire.
- 04
Shape & solder
Cut to length, bend around the mandrel, solder the seam closed, and add texture, stamps or a stone.
- 05
File & polish
File the seam smooth, sand through the grits and buff to a mirror shine. Then put it on.
Design ideas
What people make.
Bring a photo or pick from hundreds of student designs at the studio. These are the most popular starting points for a first ring.
Hammered band
The classic first ring: a textured silver band you can finish in well under three hours.
Wave ring
A flowing band shaped like a breaking wave.
Stacking set
Two or three thin bands with different textures, worn together.
Signet ring
A flat face you can stamp with an initial or a small symbol.
Gemstone ring
A band with a small natural stone set in a bezel – add the stone as an upgrade.
Couple rings
Matching bands made side by side, each with the other’s initial inside.

Make it yours
Finishing touches.
Gold plating
Finish your silver piece in 24k yellow gold or rose gold.
Natural gemstones
Set a hand-picked precious or semi-precious stone into your design.
Extra silver
Add more silver per gram for wider, heavier statement pieces.
Laser engraving
Personalize the inside of a ring or the back of a pendant with a name, date or message.
Upgrades are optional and priced by weight, stone and design – ask when you book.
Ring making FAQ
Before you make your ring.
How long does it take to make your own ring?
About three hours from first sketch to final polish. A plain hammered band is faster; a ring with a gemstone setting, engraving or detailed texture uses the full session.
How do you get the ring size right?
We measure your finger with a ring gauge at the start and shape the band on a steel mandrel to that exact size, so it fits the moment it is finished. If you are making a ring for someone else, bring one of their rings or their size.
Can I make two rings, or a ring and a pendant?
Each class includes enough silver for one solid ring or pendant. If you want a second piece or a heavier design, extra silver is available per gram – just tell us on the day.
Can I bring my own design?
Yes, please do. A photo, a sketch or a ring you already own is a perfect starting point. Your silversmith will tell you what is achievable in one session and suggest small tweaks if needed.
Can I engrave the ring?
Yes. Hand-stamped letters and numbers (a date, initials, “BALI 26”) can be done during the class, and laser engraving is available as an upgrade for finer text inside the band.
Is it a good couples activity?
Yes, it is a popular couples activity. In the Couple Silver Class you each make a ring, matching or completely different, with a private instructor at your own bench.
